Sandwich Workshop – Jobs and Employment Growth in Queensland
March 27, 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
The Queensland Futures Institute’s 2019 ‘Sandwich Workshops’ are informal lunchtime sessions at which policy ideas are presented and debated. It is an opportunity to network and engage in conversation and to contribute your thoughts and ideas on matters key to Queensland’s growth.
Our 27 March Workshop focusses on Jobs and Employment Growth in Queensland. It will be critical that Queensland supports people in transferring their skills to meet employment needs being created by new and growing industries. Existing trends already point towards potential risks for the future workforce, such as the declining male participation rate in Queensland, and indeed Australia more broadly. With new sources of growth through industry and job creation, it will be critical that Queensland supports people in transferring their skills to meet these new employment need. The panel will canvass what are the opportunities and challenges to jobs and employment growth in Queensland.
